Why WonderBunch

A preschool that begins with the child.

WonderBunch is built on a simple belief: children learn best when they feel connected, take part in real experiences and are trusted to do meaningful things for themselves.

Wonder begins here

Why the name WonderBunch?

Every child is a wonder.

Together, they are WonderBunch.

A house for a bunch of wonder.

“Wonder” represents every child, including their questions, character, imagination and possibilities. “Bunch” is what happens when they come together: learning beside one another, forming relationships and bringing their own kind of wonder into the same shared home.

How WonderBunch began

WonderBunch became WenDee’s answer.

“I wanted to create a place where childhood could feel alive, where curiosity is celebrated and every child can bloom in their own season.”

After years working alongside education leaders and supporting more than 25 institutions, one question stayed with WenDee: why should a curious child spend their earliest years simply being told what to learn?

She created WonderBunch as a place where a child is known before being guided, where an idea can become a traffic city, a living garden or an encounter with the real world, and where small responsibilities help children recognise what they can do.

Every child blooms in their own season. Our role is to protect that wonder and guide it gently.

01

Our difference

Three things shape every WonderBunch day.

They are not separate teaching methods. Together, they determine how we welcome, guide and grow with each child.

01 · Connect

Connection before participation.

We first understand what helps a child feel secure. A trusted relationship gives them the confidence to join, communicate and explore.

02 · Experience

Experience before explanation.

Children observe, touch, test, create and take part. The teacher then helps them find the language and ideas behind what they experienced.

03 · Become

Capability through practice.

Children are given responsibilities suited to their age, time to try and support when needed. Gradually, “I can’t” becomes “I can.”

What experience means here

A topic does not end at the classroom door.

We look for an authentic way for children to encounter the idea, use it and make a connection to their own world.

01Animal World

Learning about animals becomes meeting and observing a meerkat, chinchilla and tortoise.

02My Body

Learning about health becomes conversations and practical experiences with visiting health professionals.

03Water & Science

A question becomes predicting, pouring, filtering, testing and explaining what happened.

Learning & Daily Life
02

The teacher’s role

Notice before directing.

Thoughtful teaching begins by paying attention to what the child is feeling, what catches their interest and what they are ready to try next.

01

Know the child

Teachers learn each child’s cues, interests, communication and way of approaching something new.

02

Create the next invitation

The teacher prepares an experience, asks the right question and gives enough support without taking over.

03

Make learning visible

Daily photographs and notes help families understand the learning, care and small moments behind their child’s day.

What children carry forward

More than what they know.
Who they are becoming.

01Curious

I notice. I ask. I want to understand.

02Confident

I feel safe enough to try.

03Capable

I can take part and do meaningful things.

04Considerate

I belong, contribute and care for others.
